Easy Purse Refashion:Transform Your Purse in Minutes

I recently purchased this bag from Amazon with some Swagbucks I had accumulated.

What I didn’t notice from the pictures, however, was that the hardware on the bag was brass.  I liked it and was okay with it, even though I thought it was going to be silver.  But then I decided to change it to silver, and I like it even more now.  No, I didn’t have to out and buy new hardware (not even sure they sell stuff like that), I just had to pick out my favorite silver nail polish (Zoya Trixie) and easy, peasy, 15 minutes later it was transformed!  Check out this easy purse refashion:

Step 1:  Gather your supplies.

This would include your bag, the nail polish you want, and a well ventilated area to do your nail polishing, er, bag polishing.

Step 2:  Tape around the studs and hardware.

This is completely optional (I didn’t do this) but if you’re worried that you won’t paint neat enough, you could tape around the studs/rivets or other hardware on your item.

Step 3:  Go ahead and paint!

Only one coat was necessary for mine.  It took about 15 minutes to paint the 28 studs and 4 hardware pieces on my bag.  Let it dry and come back to a transformed bag!  This would be a great thing to do with say a bag you love from Goodwill or Salvation Army but it’s in a metal you don’t like, and this can be done on things other than just handbags.  Use your imagination.

And there you have a super easy purse refashion that anyone can do and it can really transform the whole look by such a simple change.

I’d love to hear if you do this on a bag you own or maybe some other accessory!

Got a lot to share this morning.  I’ve been having a problem storing my shoes in my small closet.  I had most of my shoes in a under-the-bed box, but realized I either never would wear them or I’d get them out, but not put them away, so I was just left with a big pile of shoes at the back of my bedroom.  So this weekend, I was on the search for a DIY solution.  I had seen lots of creative ideas on Pinterest, but after a trip to the basement revealed some shelves, I knew I could make that work.  The shelves had an open grid pattern, which made it impossible to store heels, so I simply cut some pretty paper and contact papered it (so they could easily be wiped clean if needed) and viola – instant solution!

Something else I did this weekend?  Started into a new bar of soap.  Exciting, I know.  But this is homemade soap – not by me (I’d probably get third-degree burns trying to make soap), but by Mountain Girl Soap.  I don’t know if it’s the fact that my hands feel moisturized after washing them, that they are natural, that they work into a lather, that they smell awesome, or that they just look so pretty, but I’m in love.  Yes, with soap.  So what?  Hey, if it can get you clean while doing all that stuff above, what’s not to fall in love with? (eek, just finished a sentence with a preposition…sorry, Mrs. McGee!)

Naomi sent my some of her bestsellers (and I can see why!) to review: Coconut Lemongrass, Eucalyptus & Spearmint, Rosemary Mint, Aloe Vera & Clover, and then samples of Acai Mangosteen, Pomegranate, and Blackberry Sage (not pictured – used it up already).  My without-a-doubt favorite was the coconut lemongrass, but I enjoyed the scent of them all, next favorites would be the blackberry sage and the eucalyptus & spearmint.

Then yesterday, this is what I wore to church.

(I think I should take these outside next time!)

And finally, I also used this purse yesterday.  I got it from JustFab (I ordered it I believe on Thurday, and it got to me on Saturday!)  It’s the Hoover Dam bag, and I just love the color blue!!!  It’s a good size, is soft, and has some pockets (inside zip, and cell phone + other pocket).  And best of all, it was free!!  I believe the deal is still going on, so you might want to check it out.  Your first purchase, you get 50% off an item  (they also sell shoes, but none were standing out to me, so I went with a bag) and you always get free shipping.  So it was $39.99 and went down to $19.95. But then at checkout, they give you a free subscription to Entertainment Weekly (value of $25), and you can click on the little print underneath and it says if you don’t want the magazine, you can send them a copy of your order and they will send you a rebate).  It is a monthly subscription, so either skip the month by the 5th of the month (unless you want that month’s selection), or just click to cancel your subscription.  Isn’t it gorgeous?

So how was your weekend?  Oh, and don’t forget to enter the Project Twenty Thirty-Five giveaway.
