Elegantees – fashion with a passion

I love fashion, looking feminine, having fun and enjoying clothing.  So when I found out about Elegantees from a friend (thanks, Erin!) I was so impressed with their company.   So what is Elegantees all about?

Sex trafficking is a form of slavery where humans are forced or blackmailed into working into prostitution. This injustice occurs all over the world, even in America. Poverty, lack of opportunity, and a need for acceptance are common reasons for a woman’s vulnerability to believe the false promises of traffickers.

Elegantees was started to help women recover from the bondage of sex trafficking.  Once she’s rescued, we offer sewing jobs as an opportunity to keep her far from the possibility of being trafficked again.

Currently, we are employing women rescued in Nepal and in the United States. Sewing jobs give these precious women a sense of dignity.

We currently partner with The Nepali Rescue Project and Restore NYC. These organizations are committed to the long-term restoration. The role Elegantees plays in helping to restore lives is through sewing one tee at a time. Freedom is our business mission!

Isn’t that just amazing?

Here is an interview/video from the founder of Elegantees:

So besides the wonderful mission of the company, their clothing is great – the quality is really very very high, the material of the top I bought was super soft, and all of the little details are what make me really love it.  Plus, their prices are really reasonable as well – and lots of sale items on a super sale of a price!  The top below is the Elizabeth, and it is only $15.  I also really love that they have an individual fit meter, because it’s so frustrating to buy something from a company where you normally wear a certain size, but in that particular style, it’s too tight or too big, so you’re never really sure what size you should get.  This takes the guesswork out of it – if you like your clothing more fitted and it is shown as a relaxed or loose fit on the fit meter, then go down a size; if you like your clothing relaxed or loose and it shows that it’s fitted on the fit meter, then go up a size.  I *really* like that aspect of it.  So I love this top.  I like my tops just a bit on the fitted side, so I was hoping to get this in a size S, but they were sold out, so I had to decide between a M and an XS, and went with the XS.  It is much more fitted on me than the model, but I still like it, and it is really so comfortable!

So check them out – find yourself a special tee, and help an amazing company do good and rescue many lives at the same time!

Question:  What is your favorite style of Elegantees?

Answer:  Here are a few of mine:

Heylee B. Giveaway

Heylee B. is a great boutique.  Heylee is a stylist and also a makeup artist.  In addition to the clothing and accessories that she sells (and a mens line), she also has a line of mineral makeup.  This top that I am showcasing isn’t available on the site anymore, but she has a lot of other styles available for fall.  One thing I like about her clothing is there is an element of surprise in almost everything.  Looking at the front of this top, you wouldn’t know the back has buttons, which make it fun and unique.

Heylee B. is giving away a $25 gift card.  Enter below.  Winner will be chosen next week.  Good luck!

CQC Boutique Review/Giveaway Sunday Style

Today’s Sunday Style was facilitated with help through the kind Denise of CQC Boutique, who provided this product in exchange for highlighting her awesome boutique.  All opinions are honest and my own.

CQC Boutique

Sorry I’ve been a bit lacking in blog posts the past week – I had some stomach issues, but thankfully it has resolved, and I’m feeling back to normal.  I know I always seem to say this, but I can’t believe it’s halfway through the month of September.  It feels like it was just summer, and now it’s finally starting to feel more fallesque. Today’s outfit is sort of my interpretation of that transition between summer and fall…when one day the sun is still beating down and the next you can smell the crispness in the air and start dreaming of pumpkins (oh, is that only me?).

Tank: This top from CQC Boutique

Cardigan: Loft thrifted

Skirt: Chaundry KC

Shoes: Naya (from ebay)

I didn’t feel this outfit needed much in the way of accessories because of the beautiful beading on the tank, and I wanted that to stay a focal point.

Polka Dots and Lace

Today’s Sunday Style is pretty out there for me – I’m mixing polka dots and lace! (gasp!) 🙂  Also linking up with NotDeadYetStyle and MyGreatestHits

polka dots and lace

Headless photo freakiness, right? The sunlight completely blocked my head.

Skirt: c/o LuLaRoe

Layering shirt: Kikiriki

Lace high/low hem tank: c/o DWDShoes

Cardigan: ModestPop

Necklace: DYT

Bracelet: antique (or looks old at least) silver bangle from a local consignment-type shop

Shoes:  extremely comfortable Naot (nearly brand new off Ebay for around $10!)

I’ve been trying to find a way to wear both this skirt and the tank, so I thought, “Why not wear them together?”   The tank is very loose and quite boxy, so I’ve foud it’s really not that flattering on me on it’s own, but when I combined it with the cardigan, it looks much better.  It’s a size M and like I said, very generously sized.

The skirt is from LuLaRoe.  Super comfy and casual.  I told them I’m a size 10/12 in skirts and was sent the size S…which honestly had me go “huh?” when I opened it and saw how small it was, because I am not a size S in bottoms at all!  On their size chart, they have a S as an 8/10, and say that they’re cut generously.  Thankfully, it has a good deal of stretch and it works!  It’s a long maxi skirt with a wide band at the top to scrunch down or pull up – can even pull it all the way up into a dress, so it’s pretty versatile.  And who doesn’t like some polka dots?!  They have lots of different patterns and seem to routinely have new skirts, so if you eye one you love, grab it before it’s gone!

Do you combine patterns/prints/polka dots/lace?  I think it can sometimes be challenging, but it’s sure fun to try 🙂

Yogi Clothing Review + Giveaway

You all probably know by now that I love things that are comfortable.  Though I love cute and trendy, and will wear things that are not as comfortable for short periods of time, I’ll be back in something comfy cozy in no time flat.  So of course, when something is both cute/trendy AND comfortable, it gets me looking.  Yogi Clothing recently sent me two items to review.  I really like the fact that while they have the traditional yoga pants/tanks, they have a lot of multipurpose clothing as well.

First case in point is this Cowl-Back cardgian in taupe.  Unfortunately, it is no longer sold on their site, but it’s a really unique top.  I found the sizing to be a little hard to figure out for me, but I ended up with the size L. (I got the M first, but it was way too snug in the arms, and I couldn’t button it properly).  I think perhaps it would look better on me if I had broader shoulders so it wouldn’t look so slouchy, as it feels like it falls off my shoulders a lot, even though it doesn’t.  But I just love how unique it is – I haven’t see anything like it before.  And of course super cozy, though not too warm or anything.

And the other piece is the Wendy cardigan in Maroon.  This one is super comfy as well.  It has a layered aspect to it.  I got this in a M and it fits well (note: I think the sleeves from Yogi Clothing run on the narrow and long side – I have to work to get this on my arms, but it’s stretchy, and I don’t mind at all having excess fabric at the wrists –  and I have pretty thick arms – so if you have long arms and everything is always short on you – great news for you!).

The fabrication and quality on both of these are top-notch, and you could easily wear these in different environments – with sweats, jeans, skirts- lots of options!
