I have two companies/products to share with you today, BluApple and TofuXPress, and then some of my thoughts about the Superbowl.
First, if you are a fan of tofu, you really should check out TofuXPress – it really can’t get any easier to press out water and firm up your tofu. You just put in the block of tofu, press down the spring controlled lid, and let it do it’s thing! I haven’t tried making cheeses with it yet, but think I really should!
Blueapple is a really novel idea – I hate wasting produce, as I’m sure you all do too. Nothing worse than spending your money on healthy fruits and veggies to then discover they went bad on you! So frustrating! These little blue-colored apple-shaped balls help to prolong your produce and keep your fruit fresh. I’ve been testing them out, and they do really seem to work! They are inexpensive as well.
Here is a little more about BluApple:
“Ethylene gas is given off by all living plants, especially by fruits, vegetables and flowers, and acts as a chemical signal to speed up the ripening process. The release of this gas is thought to be a mechanism by which plants promote uniform ripening or opening, etc. In nature, the uniformity of these events attracts the maximum number of pollinators or seed disseminators, such as birds and insects. At home, however, when you store your fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator, ethylene gas builds up. As a result the ripening process is accelerated too quickly. This is a major reason we all throw out so much spoiled produce!
The Bluapple is based on technology that has been used in ships, warehouses and trucks for many years to absorb and neutralize ethylene gas buildup. The Bluapple does not release any gas or chemical, but only absorbs, constantly removing this harmful gas from your produce storage area. The Bluapple is not a “magic” pill, but a scientific and essential part of keeping produce fresh. When produce was cheap, no one cared, but as prices have risen, it became apparent that a very beneficial product for the home could make a huge difference.
There are three key elements to long produce life: a) temperature – keeping produce cold; b) humidity – using vented plastic bags to keep a moist, but not wet environment; c) ethylene gas management – using the Bluapple. Disruption of any one of these elements will cause premature spoilage.”
The BluApple comes with a money-back guarantee, uses proven science-based technology, and is available nationwide at Whole Foods, Giant Foods, Stop & Shop, and other retailers.
Did you watch the Superbowl? (is that a silly question – I’m not sure I know anyone who doesn’t) I’m really not a huge football fan, and really didn’t care who won, but it’s the Superbowl, so I watched it, and even got quite into it in the second half when it started to get more interesting (game wise). But the thing that irks me is the commercials and half-time show. I know I may be viewed as a prude for saying this (though, really, I think we all would or should agree on some of this for sure), but really..is all the inuendo and sexual references, subtle and downright in your face, necessary??? Whatever happened to blushing and being ashamed? I just caught a glimpse of the half-time show, and was basically stunned….not that I really didn’t expect it to be a bit raunchy, but not that much! Would you want to watch something like that with impressionable children? With anyone, really. And the real kicker…would you watch it if Jesus were sitting on the couch next to you? Wow, that’s a humbling thought. I’ve heard others say the same thing – the Superbowl is not late night television – it’s primetime (well here on the East Coast…but started in the afternoon out West!) We shouldn’t have to turn the channel or cover eyes when watching a family-friendly sporting event on televsion. I guess I expect too much – I just wished we had a bit more decency and wouldn’t spew trash on screens for all to see until we become accostomed to it and think it’s the norm. Oh, how far we’ve …descended, and I don’t know if anyone else feels the same way, but it makes me sick, sad, and scared. Scared for the future – that absolutely nothing will be off limits, too risque, or too embarrassing to showcase to all ages.
I don’t mean for this to be criticizing of anyone if you thoroughly enjoyed the commercials and half-time show. These are just my personal convictions. I did think some commercials were funny, and this commercial was one that made me laugh! (see – you don’t have to degrade yourself/others to get a laugh)
Oh yeah… did I mention a giveaway???

I didn’t get to watch the super bowl but i heard mixed about the half time! This giveaway looks yummy
This is very interesting, this blue apple thing. I have heard about it recently and wondered if it really works. Would be nice if my salad could last longer, it always starts going bad a few days after I buy it (pre-bagged salad that is).
I had a hard time paying attention to the super bowl. Twitter took over my life. lol I liked reading what people thought!
I’m with you on the superbowl, Kelly. I didn’t really watch it, though. We were at my in law’s house. When the half time came on my MIL made my FIL change it because my kids were standing there watching it. We don’t really watch t.v., so I forgot how annoying it was!
I’ve been longing for a BlueApple ever since I saw it on OpenSky.com! My family goes apple picking every fall, and we always bring back bags of apples to eat through the winter. Unfortunately, all the apples ripened extremely quickly this year, even in the fridge. We had tons of fruit flies and soft apples :/ Thank you for the giveaway!
Kelly ~ you are a refreshing breath of fresh air!! If only there were more young people (our future) that shared your modest, humble views.
I hope to win the Bluapples but if I don’t, I will see if I can find them in my local store.
No Superbowl for me, but I have heard many reviews about the halftime show!! I am intrigued by that tofu press, so cool!
I hadn’t heard of BluApple before. Thanks for sharing this!
Also, there were several commercials I could have done without, I’ll agree with you there!
I love my tofu xpress!!!
I love the post and the idea behind Bluapple
Thank you
